FAQS

  • A hackathon is a collaborative programming event in which people work together to develop creative solutions to engineering-based problems, usually related to a specific theme or concept.

  • All students, regardless of school, age, gender, and experience are welcome!

  • No prior programming experience is required. Hack the Map is a beginner-friendly hackathon!

  • February 24th - 25th @ Rice Hall.

  • Hack the Map is FREE for all participants, thanks to our amazing sponsors! Participation includes free swag and food throughout the event.

  • A team can have 1-4 members.

  • Not to worry! You’ll meet plenty of people when you get here, at our team-building event. Many people go to hackathons without teams, so it’s perfectly normal to go around to people, tell them you’re looking for a team, and ask if you can help out. You can also join a team on our Discord and sign up together on our Devpost.
